Fruit juices - Healthy or not?
Most people around the world have this belief that fruit
juices are super good. And they go way too much while ordering for fruit
juices. Concentrating all the juice from several pieces of fruit into a small
glass, and in the process getting rid of all the valuable fiber in it and
gulping it down in a minute or two is an excellent way of spiking your blood
sugar beyond belief. This in turn leads to the chain reaction of craving for
more carb based foods later. Technically a big glass of fruit juice with no
fiber in it can increase blood sugar levels, increase craving for carbs. In
short it can actually abuses your insulin and other hormones and causes weight
gain.
Well if you think that’s the only problem, then here is
another more complicated part of it. Fruit juices are extremely concentrated
sources of fructose ( a type of sugar that can be utilized only for your liver
function and nothing else) . If you eat a piece of fruit, it is just going to
feed your liver, whereas a glass of juice fills up your liver and spills over
to replenish your fat reserves unlike the other forms of sugars which can be
utilized to replenish your muscles.
Also food with excess fructose can significantly raise blood
triglycerides and LDL levels which increases heart risk.
Note – these are not problems caused by eating a piece or
two of fruits daily. But problems caused by people who have the habit of
drinking fruit juices thinking of it as elixir of healthy life.

Shorter workouts for better results
Doing intervals of intense training for as little as six minutes can do more for your fitness levels than cardio workouts that last as long as 45-60 minutes, according to research from McMaster University in Canada. Those who did four to seven 30 second bursts of "all-out" exercise, followed by four minutes of recovery time, three times a week for two weeks, significantly increased their endurace capacity over those who did traditional cardio training.
"Overall, 1.5 hours a week (including rest periods) of intense interval bursts equaled the results of 4.5 hours of regular training."

Nuts for weight loss

Nuts are one of the best snacks for people trying to lose weight and to keep the blood sugar levels under check. Nuts are loaded with heart healthy fats and rich in several nutrients, including vitamin E, magnesium, fiber and protein. Many clinical studies proved that adding nuts to a person's diet did not increase his weight to the extent expected. The clinical trials concluded that nuts might suppress the appetite so that people eat less food later in the day, or that people offset the calories from nuts through increasing energy expenditure. So give a break to the zero calorie sweeteners that you are consuming with your snacks and add a serving of nuts or nutrition bars loaded with nuts to your diet.

Walking speed
Q:Murali,is it better to walk long distance slowly or short distance fast?
Biglee: To get the most calorie burn from every minute, the best walks are short, fast ones. A 150-pound woman will burn about 170 calories walking very briskly for a half-hour. For the same burn, she’d have to walk for more than 45 minutes at a moderate pace or an entire hour at a slow pace. Speedy walks also win out for boosting cardiovascular fitness because your heart and lungs get stronger each time you push yourself. Any form of walking burns more calories than doing nothing, though. And studies have shown that, no matter the distance or pace, hoofing it helps reduce your risk of heart disease.

Barb Guerra - Fitness Unarmed
I was just browsing the net for some extra motivation and look what i got!!!
Barba Guerra lost both her arms due to an electrocution in her early childhood. The Doctors felt that she can be nothing more than a vegetable. But she proved everyone wrong and now she can do pretty much anything which a normal person can do with his arms.
More than this she entered into the fitness industry and is now known for here elegance and balance in her physique.
Here are some pictures taken from here myspace profile http://www.myspace.com/fitbarbie

I am supercharged with motivation and will power after seeing this fitness freak, hope you also supercharge your batteries with motivation
