Nuts for weight loss



Nuts are one of the best snacks for people trying to lose weight and to keep the blood sugar levels under check. Nuts are loaded with heart healthy fats and rich in several nutrients, including vitamin E, magnesium, fiber and protein. Many clinical studies proved that adding nuts to a person's diet did not increase his weight to the extent expected. The clinical trials concluded that nuts might suppress the appetite so that people eat less food later in the day, or that people offset the calories from nuts through increasing energy expenditure. So give a break to the zero calorie sweeteners that you are consuming with your snacks and add a serving of nuts or nutrition bars loaded with nuts to your diet.

  1. hey bro...This is indeed fascinating news, especially for vegetarians like me.....I thrive on milk (skimmed milk powder mix), soya, dal and whey (post workout and early morning)...Staying away from eggs and meat, nuts are like real saviours..... That too, peanuts are so easy on the wallet. Add its 25% protein content....... icing on the cake...Even pottu kadalai (not sure of its engliah name, though) is pretty rich is protein, right? Any idea on how much protein it packs per 100 gms?

    all dal varieties have 20-25g of protein per 100 grams

    Consuming 100gms of peanuts and 100 gms of pottu kadalai everyday on top of whey, skimmed milk and dal should complement my workout session, am I right?

Hey, thanks, once again.....I was going through trainingmasters' blog where you had formulated a tried and tested fat loss diet for vegetarians.... nice to see a well formulated diet menu for vegetarians that too with all practical food items topping the list.....In the final meal for the day, you'd mentioned (8:30), "35-40 gm of protein mioxed with glass of skim milk".... do you again refer to whey here? The reason I am doubtful is you'd mentioned clearly "whey" in 2 other meals on the same menu.... or is it like you're referring to some other form of protein? like casein pwoder of sorts? And are there any other forms of protein powders available in the market? Few more tips can be helpful.... thanks, bro...

    Your body is different every month. For example when you are trying to gain muscle and weight you will be 65kgs this month and you will be 67 kgs next month. You need to make modifications in your diet such that you eat extra calories in order to maintain or further increase the weight further.
    And one more reason is “food allergy” If you eat same meal day in and day out for a couple of months you will not be motivated to eat the same kind of food again.
    As god has given us seasons, we can use seasonal food to bring in quality to our diet.

    BASIC THUMB RULE: Eat protein in each meal. As a vegan, one food item does not provide all amino acids. So make your meal more colorful by adding variety of food sources. (More color you add in your diet – more vitamins and aminos you introduce to your body) By color i mean the color of the food items and not any coloring agent….

    What kinda protein do you refer to?
    >> Preferably whey

    Whey is the closest protein available to human kind which resembles the composition of mothers milk. 60% of mothers milk is whey.. No wonder why baby feeding on its mom’s milk grow faster….
    to kick in variety you can add any kind of protein powders but whey preferably…

  6. Hey, bro... thanks, again, for lightning fast responses.... speaking about whey makes me ask more questions on whey and its usage..... It's a known fact that post workout, we need to gulp down a scoop of whey along with a fast acting carb like banana or glucose.... what happens if I dont take in those carbs? will assimilation of whey take more time or those 20-odd vital grams of whey go waste? Coz at times, I might not have carbs at my disposal..... so, what'll be the pitfall if I take whey without carbs? As I mentioned you before, I take whey after brushing my teeth in the morning, too..... is it a must I take whey along with carbs in the morning too?

    Insulin is a storage hormone which pushes the nutrients directly into the muscle when it is in need.

    When you take whey alone, insulin secreted will be less... but when u take fast acting carbs in PWO, it will make your body secrete more insulin which will push the carbs along with protein into the muscle directly/....

    What if you dont do that??
    you will still utilize the protein but your recovery will be very slow and your protein will have to wait for its transportation into the muscle... and if it waits too long it will just wash through your gut and will find its way out

    Will ensure a fast acting carb source always accompanies whey on to my stomach....
    It'll be really wonderful and helpful if you can mention different forms of carbs that we can make use of....
    I know banana and glucose..... any other practical sources of fast carb?

    any simple sugar

    dextrose(glucon d)
    maltodextrin (abundant in grape)
    vitagro

    When you say simple sugar, are you referring to the one which we mix with daily tea and coffee?
    So, does it mean adding a spoon of sugar with whey will be sufficient?

    Simple sugar - any form of sugar - maltodextrin, dextrose, sucrose(common sugar).
    A spoon full wont be enough in PWO. You need more.

    Dextrose would be light on your stomach compared to common sugar

  15. Hi.i was in diet for past 1 yr n lost weight n also lost my hair:'( nw wanna gain the lost hair back so daily i am eatin dal nuts n butter.wil dal nuts n butter make me gain weight n make me fat.plsss help me....
