I have a cousin sister who delivered a baby around 5 months back. And apparently, she has put on oodles of weight since then. Now that normalcy is setting in the activities, she's very keen to shed the extra pounds gained over the course of last 5 months.
I have suggested her brisk walking since I believe it's a no-nonsense and very practical workout. Buty I also urged her to take to jump ropes, of course, after exercising suitable precautions - running shoes while jumping. But am not sure how her knees might react to this.
But my question is...
1. What will be the practical ways of getting rid of those needless fat especially for a person turned mom? 2. Your advice on different workouts can prove very helpful. 3. What are the precautions she's supposed to adhere to, should she take to jumping ropes? 4. Above questions apart, I'm eager to hear about how you're gonna go about devising workout routine for a person told about above.
First of all brisk walking is all that she needs other than playing with the child.
I feel that she should not reduce calories drastically till she is breast feeding here baby. So upto 10 months or even one year, going on a low calorie diet is not an option cos that may impact on the nutrition of the baby.
Now onto the losing extra pounds...
She can get a pair of dumbbells at home (even a pair of 2kg should do)
Teach here one exercise per bodypart (upper body) sample - lateral raises for shoulders flat bench flys for chest dumbbell rowing for back shrugs for traps dumbbell kick back for triceps
let her not indulge in any heavy abdominal workout - some soft movements like side bends and floor cycling (mimic cycling by lying on the floor)
Women need more stress on lower body as that is the area which tends to go out of shape easily... squats for front portion of thighs (2 sets on regular stands, 2 sets on wide stands lunges and stiff legged deadlifts
Let here do weight training twice a week(monday and thursday) and on all other days let here do brisk walking
Let here start off with 2 sets of 10 on each exercise and as here strength improves she can increase the reps
This routine will slowly increase her power and burn fat very slowly..
Once her baby starts crawling and walking, the naughty baby will give here so much work that she will start losing drastically :)
My wishes for the new born baby and mom
